Rags-to-riches story Slumdog Millionaire (Special) continued its fairy-tale journey by winning seven prizes including Best Picture at the British Academy Film Awards and sealing its place as favourite for the Oscars later this month.

The results of 81st Academy Awards, which are to be officially announced this weekend on February 22, have reportedly been leaked online. And if the reports are to be believed then Danny Boyle’s award winning ‘Slumdog Millionare’ that has been nominated in 11 categories has won the two prestigious-Best director and Best Film Awards.

Director S S Rajamouli’s Magadheera bagged six awards at 57th Idea Filmfare Awards 2009 (South). The awards were announced on Saturday night (Aug 7, 2010) in Chennai. Over 40 awards in various categories were given to Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada films.

Allu Arjun walked away with the Filmfare Best Actor Award for his performance for Parugu at the 56th Filmfare Awards 2008 (South) ceremony. The awards presented at a glittering ceremony held at HICC in Hyderabad on Friday night (July 31st, 2009). Stars from Tollywood, Kollywood, Sandalwood and Malluwood descended on to the stage. Gamyam was adjudged as the Best Film and the film’s director Radhakrishna Jagarlamudi wont the Best Director award. Colors Swathi won the Best Actress Award for Ashta Chemma.

3 Idiots that created history by becoming one of the most successful films in Hindi cinema walked away with 11 trophies at the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards here that concluded here with a flourish early Sunday, being declared the Best Film, while the Best Director award went to Rajkumar Hirani and the Best Actress award to Kareena Kapoor for the same movie.

Science-fiction adventure "Avatar" and war movie "The Hurt Locker" on Tuesday earned nine Oscar nominations each, including best movie, to lead the field in the competition for the world's highest film honours.

Producer-director Puri Jagannath's upcoming Gopichand starrer has been titled Golimar. Produced by the director himself under the banner of Vaishno Academy, Golimar is likely to hit floors in November and will grace screens in April 2010.

Aamir Khan-starrer ‘3 Idiots’ has bagged maximum number of nominations at the 2010 International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards to be held in Colombo from June 3.
